When Arthur's family gets too crowded in their showbox of a house, it seems his late uncle Cyrus comes to his rescue by leaving him a huge mansion in his will. Arriving at the glass house they learn that Uncle Cyrus had a strange habit of catching ghosts and containing them within the glass walls using magic.
Thing get ugly when Arthur learns that Cyrus was catching the ghost to power an anchient evil device and that Cyrus arranged for the death of Arthur's wife to help in this insane plane. The machine is on aurtomatic and the only question is how will they escape alive?
Allthough I think I prefer the original William Castle classic, this remake stands on it's own.
I Give It (9 Stars)
ON THE POSTIVE SIDE:
+ CHARACTERS (The likable characters really give this a punch)
+ REAL GHOST LEGENDS (Most of the ghosts I think were based on real ghost legends)
+ GHOST EFFECTS (Down right scary ghost effects)
+ STORY (Not quite as good of the sixties version, but stands on it's own merits)
ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE:
- NOT ENOUGH STORY (It jumped from here to here to here without explaining everything)
- EVIL UNCLE (The original movie the dead uncle wasn't some power crazed madman)
